General

  • 1.What is an e-ticket? a. An e–ticket, also known as an electronic ticket, is an electronic document that contains the details of your bus ticket, like a unique confirmation number issued by the bus operator for the booking you have made, along with other details like your departure date, time, boarding point, and so on. It is important to carry a print-out of the e-ticket along with a valid photo-id proof at the time of bus departure.
  • 2.Can I book a multi-city trip? a. No, currently we do not have this facility. We will update you as soon as this feature is launched on our site.
  • 3.While travelling with an infant on the bus, is there anything special I must know? a. Make sure they have valid proof–of–age documents when they’re checking in, and remember that infants must be accompanied by an adult at least 18 years old. You can book no more than one infant per adult. Infants below 24 months of age do not require a bus ticket as they are not allotted any bus seat.

Booking Bus Ticket

  • 1.What are bus types? a. Bus types indicate the type of bus it is. For example, the standard bus types are Volvo AC buses, AC buses, Non AC buses, Mercedes buses, Non Mercedes buses, Seater buses, Sleeper buses, etc. Depending on the green icons highlighted under the bus type, you would know if the bus is a Volvo or Non Volvo, AC or non AC and Seater or Sleeper. There could be multiple combinations possible like if both the AC and Sleeper icons are green then the bus is an AC Sleeper bus. If only the AC icon is green the bus is an AC seater bus. Some buses now offer both Seater and Sleeper options as well as both AC and non AC sections within the same bus. b. Fares vary between AC and non AC seats/berths as well as sleeper or seater options. AC seats/berths are usually more expensive than non AC options. Sleeper berths are usually more expensive than seater options. c.When choosing your seat or sleeper berth on the seat map, please give attention to the type of seat or sleeper berth you are booking, especially in buses which provide both the options.
  • 2.What are boarding points? a. Boarding points are locations within the city from where you can board your bus. In large cities like Bangalore, Delhi, etc. there may be more than one boarding point for the same bus. You can choose the boarding point most convenient to you and board the bus from there.
  • 3.Does Goibibo operate the buses for which it sells the tickets? a. Goibibo.com does not operate any of the buses. We are merely a platform to facilitate bus ticket bookings. The buses are operated by various bus tour operators with whom we have an alliance.
  • 4.Why are different seats priced differently? a. The price varies as per the seat type. Some buses have both seats as well as sleeper berths in the same bus, and some buses also have both AC and non AC sections. As an approximate guide, seater seats are priced less than sleeper berths and non AC section is priced less than the AC section. For example, an AC sleeper berth will have a higher fare than a non AC sleeper berth in the same bus. Similarly, a sleeper berth will have a higher fare than a seater in the same bus.
  • 5.I am travelling with a child. Do I need to purchase a bus ticket for the child? a. There will be no charges for children below 2 years of age. They will not be given a seat and will have to travel on an adult's lap/seat. For children over 2 years of age, a full ticket will need to be purchased.
  • 6.What is the maximum number of seats I can book on a bus? a. It depends entirely on the seat availability with the bus. To check how many seats can be booked in any bus, you will have to individually “view” the blueprint of each bus from the bus search result page to see which bus has the required number of vacant seats. However, please note that if you delay your payment after having selected your seats, the seats can be booked by another individual in the meanwhile and will no longer be available for you. As seats are subject to availability, so please ensure that you immediately make the payment after having shortlisted and finalized your bus and seat.
  • 7.Can I modify my bus search result according to my specific preference? For example: if I want to see only specific bus operators or if I want to see only particular bus types, like Volvo, is that possible? a. Yes, that’s possible. You can refine your search result in the bus search page.
  • 8.Can I book a return trip bus ticket? a. Yes you can book a return bus ticket with Goibibo.
  • 9.After searching for my bus, I do not see any search result for buses. Instead I see a message stating “no records found”. Why? a. Sometimes bus services are not available on some routes. This may be due to multiple reasons. It could be because of high demand on a particular route resulting in the availability running out, leaving no seats to book or because of temporary withdrawal of bus services by the bus operator, etc. We suggest that you leave your email address with us in such cases. We would take a note of your request and strive to make the bus services available as soon as possible. b. Another possible reason can be if you have refined your search to be too narrow and the system is not able to find the exact match for your search query. In such a case, please keep a broad search range and try again.
  • 10.How do I choose my boarding point and my seats on the bus? a. After entering your to and from city in the search box, Goibibo will display list of buses plying for that route on the given date. You can click on the “View” button and a bus blueprint will be showcased to you. Please select your preferred seats and boarding point and then click on “continue”.
  • 11.After selecting my seat and boarding point, how do I make payment? a. After you have selected your seat and boarding point, you will be redirected to the bus search result page. Your selected bus will be highlighted with the “Book” button. Click on “book” to proceed for payment.
  • 12.On the payment page, there is a tab asking for “promotional code”. What is this? a. Promotional code is the unique discount code through which you can get your bus fare reduced. All you need to do is simply enter the promotional code in the field given on the payment page and click on the “calculate discount” button. Depending upon your code and its validity, your bus fare will be automatically adjusted.
  • 13.Where do I find the Goibibo promotional code? a. You can look into our offer section on www.goibibo.com/offers to check for any currently running offers and discounts on bus booking.
  • 14.Why does my booking fail? a. There could be multiple reasons as to why a booking may fail. If you take too long to make your payment, the seats you selected may no longer be available. In such cases it is advisable to select some other seats and try again. There might also be momentary communication issues at the bus operator end. However, such issues are rare and making a new booking should help in most cases.
  • 15.The departure time shown with the search result is from which boarding point? a. The departure time shown along with the search results is the time at which the bus will depart from the first boarding point. Departure times from subsequent boarding points will be after this time. The exact departure time from a boarding point will be mentioned along with the boarding point name, when you choose your boarding point.
  • 16.How do I find out which are seater seats and which are sleeper berths in the seat layout? a. Usually a seat is represented by a square cell while a sleeper berth is rectangular in shape (bigger than a seat cell). The blueprint of the bus which gets displayed on clicking the “View” button will also be carrying details about what seat type it is.
  • 17.Can I book bus tickets for travel on the next day or the same day? a. Upon entering the starting and destination city, you can select the travel date for today or tomorrow, depending upon when you want to travel. If any seats will be available with any of the buses, the result will get displayed. However, if no buses are available then the system will display the message as “no records found”. In such a case you will have to select a later date of travel to check for bus availability and then make the booking.
  • 18.Can I choose my own seats? a. Yes, you can choose your on seats. After short-listing your bus for travel, click on the “view” button and you will be shown a blueprint of the bus with seat options available and a choice for boarding point. Select your seat as per your preference and proceed by clicking the “continue” button. Your seats will be confirmed only when you have completed the transaction and made the payment.
  • 19.What do I do after choosing my seats? a. After choosing your seats and clicking the 'Book' button, you will be shown a summary of your booking details. You would now need to:
  • a. i.Fill the payment form with the required details. a. ii.Accept the Rules & Regulations for this booking, Goibibo Privacy Policy and Goibibo User Agreement. a. iii. After providing these details, please choose the payment option by which you wish to pay for your booking and then proceed to pay. a. iv. After successful payment, we will confirm your booking. Once your booking is confirmed, we will mail your e-ticket to the email address provided by you. You can also print your e-ticket after the payment from the site itself. Additionally, you can choose to download a PDF copy of the e-ticket and print it later or email the e-ticket to another email address (different than the one provided, since an e-ticket copy is already mailed to it by default).
  • 20.I entered my payment details and submitted the information. My card is charged but I see a blank screen. What now? a. We're really sorry for the inconvenience. Please don't worry. We'll call you within four hours and complete this booking offline. We suggest you do not try booking again as you may end up getting charged twice. After I have made my Booking

Cancellation / Refund / Amendments in Bus Booking

  • 1.How do I cancel my booked ticket? a. Go to Cancel / Reschedule tab at the top of the Goibibo home page. Type in the ticket number or booking id, you will get relevant ticket details with the cancellation charges. Select the ticket and click cancel button.
  • 2.Can I do a partial cancellation of the ticket? a. Yes, you can do a partial cancellation of the ticket. However, partial cancellation (cancellation of one Sector) or segment change is not permitted for Discounted Return Fares.
  • 3.Can I modify my bus ticket booking? a. To make changes to your bus ticket booking which involves change of passengers, partial cancellations, change in journey date, change in bus type, and change in timings, you will need to cancel your original ticket and make a new bus ticket booking. b. Changes which involve change in boarding point may be done in certain cases. Same is subject to the discretion of the bus operator and is not guaranteed. For all such changes, please call the bus operator directly at the phone number given on your e-ticket.
  • 4.Do you charge any transaction charges or convenience fees over and above the bus fare? a. No, we do not charge any transaction charges or convenience fees. You only pay for your bus fare.
  • 5.Is there a bus cancellation fee? a. Yes. A cancellation fee will be levied on every bus ticket cancelled. The cancellation fee varies based on bus operator as well as the time before departure that a ticket is cancelled. The cancellation policy applicable on your booking is printed on your e-ticket. Please refer to your e-ticket for the same. b. There are certain exceptions to this policy. Some bus operators do not allow cancellations and hence no refund is possible in such cases. Some bus operators charge higher cancellation penalties while some allow cancellation up to 4 hours before departure. The exact cancellation charges and restrictions as applicable to your booking will be printed on your e-ticket. Please refer to the same.
  • 6.I booked a bus ticket and payment was charged. But my booking was not confirmed. What to do? a. In such cases please call our customer care number. We will make the booking offline over the phone or process the full refund, as this happens due to unavailability of the seats, internet or time out issue. In case you opt for a refund then refund will be credited to your account in seven working days.
  • 7.I had booked an Air-Conditioned bus but the bus operator made me travel in a Non-Air-Conditioned bus. Can I get a refund? a. In such cases where the class or type of bus ticket booked differs from what you actually travelled on, refund will be based on the difference in fare between the higher and lower bus type. Kindly note, the refund will be granted by the bus operator and Goibibo.com will not be held responsible in any way.
  • 8.What if the bus I was supposed to travel in gets cancelled? a. If the bus tour operator cancels the bus, kindly note, the refund will be granted by the bus operator and will be processed to you by Goibibo.
  • 9. What happens if the bus operator has changed the landmark without giving any information? a. In such cases we need to speak to Red Bus & confirm about the alternatives available. In case if the passenger misses his/her bus due to this error we will ask Red Bus to process the refund & same will be communicated to you. In case Red Bus denies giving the full refund please drop us a mail at travel@goibibo.com.
  • 10.If I miss my bus, am I eligible for a refund? a. No refund will be processed if you miss your bus. It will be considered as a No-Show.
