ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrive Paro International Airport

Arrive Paro International Airport from New Delhi / Kolkata / Kathmandu / Bagdogra and transfer to the capital city Thimphu. In afternoon visit Takin Zoo, National Library, Tashi Chho Dzong. Evening at leisure and overnight stay at Thimphu.

Day 2: Thimphu, capital of Bhutan 65 km 1 hrs Drive

After breakfast, visit Handicraft Emporium, Bhutanese traditional paper factory, National Memorial Chorten, Buddha statue and Centenary Park, which is located very close to river. In evening visit the city for shopping or for leisure and overnight stay at Thimphu.

Day 3: Thimphu to Punakha 77 km 2hrs 45 min hrs Drive

After breakfast, drive to Punakha via Dochula Pass, stop at Druk Wangyal Chorten from here you could have a panoramic view of the Himalayan mountain range when the weather is clear. Drive further down to Lamperi stop and explore Royal Botanical Park for few minutes and proceed to Punakha. On the way stop and visit Chimmi Lhakhang temple or take a short walk. In afternoon visit the majestic Punakha Dzong and rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay at Punakha.

Day 4: Day excursion to Gangtey valley via Wangdi 2hrs 30 min hrs Drive

After breakfast, transfer to Paro valley via Semtokha. In afternoon visit the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong and on the way back drive till the base point of the Tiger’s nest. Evening at leisure and overnight stay at Paro.

Day 5: Punakha to Paro 142 km 4 hrs Drive

After breakfast drive to Paro and on the way visit Paro Dzong, which is located on the rocky outcrop of the steep hillside overlooking both sides of the valley drive back to the town. In afternoon visit the old ruins of Drukgyel Dzong, 17th century fortress that used to keep invaders from Tibet and in 1951 the fort was destroyed by fire. Evening at leisure and overnight stay at Paro.

Day 6: Paro sightseeing

After breakfast drive till the base of the world famous Tiger’s Nest, clings to a sheer, 900m above the ground which is the most popular spiritual heritage sites. There is a belief that the legend Padma Sambhava flew here from Tibet on the back of a tiger. On the way to town visit Kyichu Lhakhang, which is one of Bhutan’s two oldest and most sacred monasteries dating from the introduction of Buddhism in the 7th century. Rest of the day at leisure or visit the town for shopping. Overnight stay at Paro.

Day 7: Departure

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your onward destination.
