Royal Blue - Jodhpur

Called the "Blue City" because of the blue-painted houses around the Mehrangarh Fort. Jodhpur is a royal city and the second largest metropolitan area in the state of Rajasthan. The city is famous as an ideal tourist destination because of its ancient castles, the Mehrangarh Fort and most importantly for the amazing Thar Desert close by. The old city circles the fort and is bounded by a wall with several gates.

Jodhpur travel guide is quite handy to explore the place. In the times gone by, the region was sandwiched between two powerful rulers and enemies, The Mughals and The Marathas. Jodhpur was founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha, a chieftain of the Rathore clan. He captured the surrounding territory and founded a state which later came to be known as Marwar. The city being on the strategic road linking Delhi to Gujarat enabled it to trade in opium, copper, silk, dates etc. In the Jodhpur travel guide, one can also find some must see places in and around the city.
