The Calicut International Airport is also known as the Kozhikode Airport or Karipur Airport and is situated in Karipur. It is situated 25 kms from Malappuram and 28 kms from Kozhikode and is the third busiest airport in Kerala. The airport started functioning in the year 1977 and became an international airport in 2006.
Terminal 1: This is the domestic terminal of the airport and connects airlines to some of the major cities of the country like Delhi, Mumbai,Chennai and Bangalore. Airlines such as AirKonnect, SpiceJet and Air India operate their domestic flights at this terminal.
Terminal 2: This is the international terminal of the airport and helps connect to some of the major cities and countries like Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Kuwait and a few more. All the international flights at this airport are operated by airlines such as Saudia, Qatar Airways, Emirates and Etihad Airways.
The petite coastal hamlet, Beypore, situated in the Kozhikode district of Kerala is known for being the host to one of the significant ports that helped in trading between Middle East and Asia. As time graduated, Beypore attained the status of an important ship building centre. The approximate 1,500 years old art of shipbuilding is clearly reflected on the craftsmanship of Beypore workers. The traditional construction of Uru, an Arabian trading vessel also takes place over here.
