The Madrid Barajas Airport is located 12kms away from central Madrid in the northeast of Madrid's Barajas district. The airport derived its name from the adjacent district of Barajas. It is the first Spanish airport to handle both passenger traffic and cargo operations. The airport is also the fourth largest in Europe by number of passenger traffic. It is also the main international airport of Madrid.
The airport has four terminals, one satellite building and two dams, one of which can also be called a terminal.
1st, 2nd and 3rd terminal have six boarding areas, i.e. A, B, C, D, E, all of which are joined to each other, while boarding area F corresponds to T3.
The Metro network leads to the T4 airport terminal from Madrid.
Connectivity by rail:
Train station Atocha Renfe, is the core of arrivals departures of trains RENFE AVE. It connects the airport through 14 Metro stations.
RENFE connects Madrid with T4 of Madrid Barajas Airport via a suburban train network. The train only goes to the station located at terminal T4 P1.
Connectivity by bus:
buses ply from the centre and periphery of Madrid to the airport. There are also long distance buses that ply to and from the airport.
