Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Airport

Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Airport of Patna is commonly known as Jaiprakash Narayan Airport. It is operated by Airports Authority of India (AAI) and according to the statistics released by AAI, Patna airport is the 21st busiest airport in India. AAI classified the airport as a Restricted International Airport. Built in the year 1973, it runs various domestic flights all over India. AAI looks after the airport’s customs, maintenance, security, air traffic control and cargo bay services. AAI also gave an award to Patna airport for having the best fire station in eastern region. The airport provides direct flights to major cities of India like Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Indore, Ranchi, Bangalore and Chennai. Indian Airlines, Jet Lite, Jet Airways, Indigo Airlines, Kingfisher Airlines and GoAir are some of the main operating airlines.


Currently, the airport has only Domestic Terminal that handles arrival and departure of domestic flights. For transit passengers, rest rooms are available that can be booked by contacting Airport Terminal Manager or Terminal Manager Office.

The airport is located at a distance of 5 kms southwest of Patna and is situated at Phulwari Sharif area. It is well connected to other parts of the city via NH-98 (National Highway 98) by all modes of transport.

Connectivity by Bus: The nearest bus station to the airport is located at a distance of 7 kms in Mithapur. Government and private buses are available for commuting to and from the airport.
