The Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is a civil- military public airport located around 5kms southeast of downtown Phoenix, in Maricopa County, Arizona. It is the largest commercial airport in American Southwest. It is the regional hub for Mexican and Hawaiian departures. The largest carrier of the airport is US Airways.
The airport has three terminals (2, 3 and 4) with 120 aircraft gates in total. Airport administration has declared that Terminal 1 has been 'retired' and it is not going to renumber the terminals as passengers are already aware with the existing terminal numbers.
It has 9 gates and three parking slots. Airlines that operate from Terminal 2 are United Airlines, Great Lakes and Alaska Airlines. PHX Sky Cart, a new electric cart service connects Terminal 2 and terminal 3. It is available to transport customers with special needs.
Its level 1 has ticket counters and baggage claims while level 2 has gates, food and shopping joints. Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Spirit Airlines and Sun Country Airlines operate from this terminal.
Terminal 4:This terminal four levels. Level 1 is for baggage claim, Level 2 has ticket counters and Level 3 has gates, food and shops. Airlines operating from here are Air Canada, American Airlines, British Airways, Southwest Airlines, US Airways, Volaris and WestJet.
The airport is easily accessible by rail and bus from any part of the city.
Connectivity by rail:
The PHX Sky Train, an automated train transports travelers between Valley Metro Rail at 44th and Washington streets, East Economy parking area and airport terminals. It operates 24 hours a day with three minutes duration during peak periods.
Connectivity by road:
Public transit bus service, that also offers wheelchair accessible transportation, is available to and from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. City Bus Route 13 goes to the airport. Free airport shuttle also takes passengers to the bus and light rail stops located near at 44th Street and Washington.
