San Francisco International Airport serves the San Francisco city of the California region in the United States. The airport is famously called as the “Gateway to the Pacific” as almost half of the passengers from here travel to Asia and Pacific. San Francisco was the first airport in all of USA to fully automate the baggage and luggage system. The airport was founded in 1927, when it was called as “Mills Field Municipal Airport”. San Francisco international Airport operates with 4 different terminals.
This terminal was previously called as the “South Terminal” and was opened in 1963. Post opening the terminal has undergone massive renovation work, most recent of which was in 1988.
Terminal 2 was previously refereed as “ Central Terminal” and was opened in 1954 as the then main airport terminal. This terminal has served as the International Terminal in the past before it was shut down for indefinite renovation works in 2000. The terminal was re-opened in 2011 with a host of latest technological upgrades.
Terminal 3 was previously known as “ North Terminal” This terminal, like the other, has undergone renovation from time to time.
International terminal was inaugurated in 2000, when terminal 2 was relieved off its duties. The terminal is quite peculiar as it is the largest building in the world built upon base isolators. It is also the largest international terminal in all of North America. This terminal is equipped with all the latest technologies and facilities.
