Located just one km north of the Itimad-ud-Daulah tomb, this mausoleum is situated on the banks of river Yamuna. Built in 1635, it was made in the memory of Persian poet Afzal Khan Aalmi. He was the Prime Minister during Shahjahan’s reign. The tomb exhibits a perfect blending of Indo-Persian architecture. It is the first building which was constructed using glazed tiles or chini.
The different shades of the tiles like yellow, green, aquamarine and orange are the most attractive feature of this monument. The interior part of the tomb is decorated with paintings of flowers. If you have interest in architecture, then you must have a look at this unique structure.
