Mehtab Bagh is located on the banks of river Yamuna opposite to the Taj Mahal. Constructed between 1631-1635 CE, this 25 acre bagh is one of the most beautiful gardens of the city. Recent excavations conducted by ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) revealed a huge octagonal tank equipped with 25 fountains on the southern periphery, a small central tank and baradaris (pavilion) on the east. These findings have increased its popularity among tourists and locals alike. It is also known as the Moonlight garden as one can enjoy a spectacular night view of the Taj Mahal under moon light.
Enchanting fragrance of the different species of flowers will rejuvenate your spirits. Enjoy a walk amidst its beautiful pools, fountains, fruit trees and windy canopies. As it is less crowded, one can easily capture unique sunset shots of the Taj.
