Visit Bala Quila

Located near City Palace, atop Aravalli hills, the Bala Qila or young fortstands tall at the height of 595 metres above the city of Alwar. It extends about 5 km from north and south and 1.6 km from east and west, and has 15 large and 51 small towers. This magnificent fort can be entered via six gates namely:

It extends about 5 km from north and south and 1.6 km from east and west, and has 15 large and 51 small towers. This magnificent fort can be entered via six gates namely:
 

  • Jai Pol,
  • Suraj Pol,
  • Laxman Pol,
  • Chand Pol,
  • Krishan Pol and
  • Andherl Gate.

Points to keep in mind, before planning a visit to Bala Quila:
  • The fort is in ruins now, therefore only few parts of it is open for public.
  • Visiting the fort requires a permit, which has to be taken from the police Superintendent, whose office is located in the City Palace below.
  • The way to the fort is a steep climb of 7 km, so one can take a vehicle up to its gates.
