Navratri:Navratri (Nine Nights), dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga occurs twice every year and is celebrated with much pomp and show in Amravati. During the nine days of the festival, during which nine different forms of the Goddess is worshipped, a grand Mela (Fair) is organized that is thronged by thousands of people from Amravati and the nearby places. Apart from the local artisans and craftsmen selling goods in the fair, people participate in the local cultural dance called Garbha/Dandiya that goes on till late in the evening. It is really a wonderful experience to be a part of these festivities in Amravati. The other important Indian festivals like Makarsankranti, Holi, Deepawali, Eid-ul-Azha, and Eid-ul- Fitr are also celebrated with much enthusiasm.
