Interestingly, there is no idol of the Goddess inside the temple, may be because its extremely old age predates idol worship. The upper portion of the gokh (niche) on the wall is decorated in such a way that it looks like an idol or goddess from a distance. Apart from the inner sanctum, the temple has numerous other things to attract you, like:

  • A large rectangular kund called Mansarovar lies at a distance, which is adorned by steps from all sides
  • The silver plated doors of inner sanctum
  • The other temple on the Gabbar, which is considered to be the original abode of the goddess.

The nine nights of Navratri adorn the temple with lights, devotees, fervour and celebration. Be there at Navratri to catch its magnificent outlook. Otherwise, the temple remains open all days a week and you can therefore visit on any day as per your choice.
