Chidambaram Travel Guide
Chidambaram is a pilgrimage city among Shiva and Shakti devotees. It is located in the Cuddalore district in the state of Tamil Nadu. The city is directly connected to Karaikal-Cuddalore-Chennai Highway and a number of transport services run from other cities to Chidambaram. Thousands of pilgrims come here to visit the Thillai Nataraja Temple.
The temple devotes to the Lord Nataraja (Shiva) in the form of a dancer. The temple is an architectural wonder constructed in the ancient Dravidian style. It also showcases the annual dance festival – Natyanjali Festival that takes place in February. Other than Nataraja Temple, Thillai Kali Amman Temple, Pichavaram Mangrove Forest with boating facilities are places to visit. Annamalai University is a well-known institution in the city that attracts students from many places. Shopping can be done at Car Street. A number of South-Indian restaurants are available in the vicinity and around the Thillai Nataraja Temple. It is best to visit in the months of October and February.
