Named after a British Governor, Dalhousie is a quiet and charming hill resort for relaxation as well as treks. It is primarily picked by honeymooners, families and young people for holidays. Its beautiful nightlife attracts a number of tourists. Moti Tibba and Subhash Chowk are good shopping options.
St. Andrews Church, Khajjar, Dhainkund, Alah Water Tank, Rang Mahal, and Laxmi Narayan Temple are some famous attractions to see. A pretty hill station in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, Dalhousie is situated at an elevation of 1,970 metres above sea level. It boasts of Scottish and Victorian architecture, British-era churches, tree-shaded lanes and peaceful ambience. Some of the must visit tourist attractions in Dalhousie include Dainkund Peak, Chamera Lake, St. John’s Church, Subhash Baoli, Ganji Pahari and Panjpulla. Being a popular holiday destination, Dalhousie is well-connected to other parts of the country by air, road and rail.

Gaggal Airport, located around 130 km away, is the nearest airport to Dalhousie. From outside the airport, you can hire a private taxi/cab or avail bus services to reach Dalhousie.

Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HPTC) and Haryana Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) provide regular bus services from nearby cities to Dalhousie. New Delhi is located at a road distance of about 565 km from Dalhousie and it takes around 11 hours via NH 1 to reach Dalhousie from Delhi.
 
How to Reach Dalhousie by Rail
 
Located about 80 km away, Pathankot railway station is the nearest railhead to Dalhousie. It is directly connected to major Indian cities such as Delhi, Jammu, Jaipur, Bathinda, Ahmedabad and Jodhpur via superfast, express and mail trains. You can hire a private taxi from outside the railway station, to reach Dalhousie, a journey of about 3 hours.

We are 3 couples and  4 kids visiting on 21 September ,Is this a good time to visit ? where should we chose to stay Dalhousie or khajjiar? please advice on good hotels.
u will see the cold weather and it will be chilled in september..but its still fine to visit Dalhousie....stay in Dalhousie n prefer to take a hotel near by bus stand....i wud suggest Hotel Kumar as a good one....we had a nice stay there recently n it is just 2 mins away from bus stand...from dalhousie, u need to book a taxi to visit places like Khajjiar, Dainkund peak point, and Kalatop wildlife reserve....u can also go to Panchpula where ur kids might like the place...thanks, Ayush
