The quaint charming hill town of Kurseong in the state of West Bengal is an ideal place to loose oneself to the abundant beauty of nature. From surrounding hills to winding roads and sloping valleys, Kurseong's varied natural vistas lend a refreshing touch to one's vacation mood. Apart from natural beauty, Kurseong's temples have also lured travellers. Out of many such small and big shrines, the Jagdish Temple happens to be the most spectacular and popular one. It was built around 300 years ago by Pareek brothers of Mokala.

The temple is dedicated to Lord Jagannath and therefore the festival of Rath Yatra is celebrated with pomp and show. The two statues of Lord Jagannath installed inside the temple complex narrate the power of Almighty and the devotion and belief of devotees towards him. Its wooden interiors depict an old world charm, which is now rarely found in other temples of India. Two prominent things that should not be missed while planning a trip to Jagdish Mandir, Kurseong, are:

  • the popular Atka Prasad of the temple and
  • an exclusive visit to the temple during Rath Yatra.
