With a fusion of Hindu and Jain traditions reflecting from the carved pillars, this Islamic place of worship also reflects the typical architectural works of the Mughals. The floor of the mosque, similar to the Jama Masjid, Fatehpur Sikri near Agra, is covered with white and black marble and is ornamented to imitate the Muslim prayer mat.

Before planning a visit to Jama Masjid, keep in mind the following pointers:

  • Step in the early morning hours to avoid crowd and noise.
  • As it is a religious site, appropriate clothing is a must, so dress properly.
  • The nearest metro station is Chawri Bazaar on the Yellow Line of the Delhi Metro.
  • Another major attraction 'Red Fort' is located close to the masjid.
