Gopaljew Temple in Haldia is a significant tourist attraction known for the large idol of Lord Krishna. It is generally frequented by locals, but those who come for a trip to Haldia, make sure that they visit the temple before leaving. There are also two small temples inside the complex that form a part of the trip too. Two interesting points pertaining to Gopaljew Temple are:

  • it was built in 1778 by the Queen Janaki Devi and
  • the temples is constructed in Navaratna style of architecture.
Apart from the main statue of Hindu Lord Krishna, the complex also feautures Jagannath Temple and Natmandir on either side of the entrance that catches the sight of visitors right at the time of entering the complex.
