Fatehpur Sikri is a town in the Agra district in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh. It is one of the major tourist attraction and is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The entire city is made up of red sandstone.
The town was built by Emperor Akbar in the 16th century as a capital of the Mughal Empire. Major tourist attractions include Buland Darwaza, Jama Masjid, Tomb of Salim Chisti, Diwan-i-Aam, Diwan-i-Khas, the palace of Jodhabai, Ibadat Khana, Panch Mahal, Birbal’s House, and Hiran Minar.
