Gandhinagar is the capital city of the western Indian state of Gujarat. It is situated on the west bank of the Sabarmati River in the state. The city is located 23 kilometres north of Ahmedabad and is known as the “Greenest Capital of Asia”. It is the second planned city after Chandigarh.
The famous sight-seeing places to visit are Akshardham Temple, Hanumanji Temple, Trimandir-Simandhar City, Capital Complex, Dandi Kutir Museum, GIFT City Tower and many more. Indroda Dinosaur Fossil Park, Deer Park, Blackbuck National Park, and Mahatma Kutir are good choices for children visits. The best time to visit is in the months between October and March. The popular delicacies in Gandhinagar are the typical Gujarati thali, Dhokla, Fafda, Kamam and more. Uttarayan is the popular festival celebrated during the time of Makar Sankranti in the month of January.
