Sri Ganganagar hosts a number of festivals. Many Hindu festivals in Sri Ganganagar are celebrated with grandeur.
Gogameri Mela:Thousands of pilgrims from different states such as Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan visit the place to worship ‘Gogaji’, “The God of snakes". Gogaji is also recognized as Gogaji Chauhan, Gugga and Jahar Peer etc.
Bhadrakali Mela:This mela is organized in the Temple of Maa Bhadrakali, situated at a distance of 57 Kms from Sri Ganganagar. Though, tourists visit the temple round the year but in the period of Chaitra Sudi 8 and 9, thousands of visitors from nearby and distant areas visit the temple to worship Maa Bhadrakali.
Holi:The “festival of colours” is indeed celebrated in a very colourful manner in Sri Ganganagar and is one of the biggest festivals for the natives. The atmosphere is really charged up during the celebrations.
Diwali:One of the most important festivals of Hindus, Diwali, is also well known by the name of “Festival of Lights” or Deepavali. It is celebrated in the month of October or November. Diwali in Sri Ganganagar is celebrated with pomp and show. Goddess Lakshmi is worshiped on this festival.
