Visit Mahanavami Dibba

As one takes a tour of the Royal enclosure in Hampi, the Mahanavami Dibba stands as the tallest structure, in its premises, ready to delight onlookers with its glorious past. From a distance it looks like a simple elevated structure but on a closer look, the three-layered giant structure slowly gets unveiled. This grand architecture is symbolic of the victory of Krishnadavaraya over Udayagiri and was subsequently improvised by succeeding rulers.

Two stairways reach the top of the structure with the front stairs being highly decorated on either side with carvings of elephants, horses and a plethora of other representations. The sides of Mahanavami Dibba display designs of sculptures and the panels at the sidewalls depict diverse pictorial presentations ranging from royal ceremonies, city life, hunting scenes to Portuguese, Chinese and Arabic connections. This platform was used by the king to view army march-pasts, aquatic sports, war games,
