Vondelpark is the famous beloved public park for locals and tourists of all ages. This park was first opened in 1865 as Nieuwe Park but later got renamed as Vondelpark after the 17th-century dramatist Koost van den Vondel. The 120-acre park is a perfect place for lazy afternoon strolls, family picnics and teenager hangouts to enjoy warm days.
The park is equipped with restaurants, ponds, playground, skating ground, cycling tracks and open-air theatre. It is a public place hence free entry to all however some activities offered in the park require a nominal fee. Jazz concerts, movie screening by EYE Vondelpark and open-air theatre on weekend nights in summers are best to get out of this public venue.
