Visit Kek Lok Si Temple
Kek Lok Si is a well-known Buddhist temple in Air Itam, Penang, Malaysia. This picture-perfect temple comprises of small monasteries, manicured gardens, prayer halls, souvenir stalls, and a famous turtle pond- The Liberation Pond.
The construction of the temple complex was finished in 1891 and since then it is encouraging its visitors with its heritage teachings and devotion. The major highlights of this temple are the pagoda of Rama VI (seven-storey high), Kuan Yin- the Goddess of Mercy, the statues of Four Heavenly Kings in the Hall of Devas and Ban Po Thar- 10,000 Buddha statues. The Chinese New Year is a focal festival the temple celebrates by praying and lighting thousands of lanterns. The Chinese culture and heritage artefacts present in the temple are not just educating but also spiritually awakening.
