Khao Phra Thaeo National Park is an outstanding last rainforest of Thailand. It is spread across 22 square kilometres on the north of Phuket island. It is home to exotic species of animals like langurs, monkeys, Gibbons, and more than 100 different species of trees and birds.
The national park has multiple hiking trails, waterfalls, a museum and an information centre. Bang Pae (the largest waterfall in Phuket) and Ton Sai waterfalls are beautiful waterfalls. An eight-kilometre trek is available from Ton Sai waterfall to Bang Pae. Nearby Bang Pae, Gibbon Rehabilitation Centre is located. It rescues injured Gibbons and returns them to their natural habitat. Guides available are very useful as they educate you with the species and beautiful sounds of birds and animals. It is advisable to wear comfortable gripping shoes so that you don’t trip in the rainforest.
