Hawa Mahal or the Palace of the Winds is one of the most famous tourist attraction of Jaipur and is located at Johari Bazaar Road, Badi Choupad. The beautiful five storey palace was constructed in 1799 CE by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh of Kachhwaha Rajput dynasty. It was made especially for the ladies of the royal household for the purpose of watching everyday happenings while staying veiled behind the jharokhas or windows.
The palace was built using red and pink sandstone and as per speculations, it was constructed in the form of the crown of Hindu God, Lord Krishna. The Hawa Mahal is considered as a great example of Rajputana architecture. The pyramid shape and 953 jharokhas are the main highlights of Hawa Mahal. If you want to have an excellent view of the city then just go at the top of the Mahal and enjoy the breathtaking view.
