Kakinada is one of the largest cities of Andhra Pradesh which was formerly known as Cocanada. It is popularly known as “Fertilizer City” because of the amount of fertilizer it produces. It is a planned and peaceful city.
The major tourist attractions include Coringa Wildlife Sanctuary, Hope Island India, Konaseema, Uppada Beach, Suryanarayana Swami Temple and Kodandaramalayam Temple. It organises a three-day event named Kakinada Beach Festival which has been recognised as the annual festival of the city. The best time to visit is in the months between November-March. It is world famous for the sweet dish, Kaaja, that is produced in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
