Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple, in Srisailam, is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva situated here. Srisailam is located in the Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh state. The temple is also one of the 18Maha Sakti Peeths.

The legend behind the sakti peeths is that these were the places where Sati Devi's corpse fell when Lord Shiva was carrying it. The Devi's lip is believed to have fallen here. The festival of Mahashivratri is a major affair here as the festivities begin in full swing and devotees and pilgrims swarm the place in the thousands

  • The temple is based on the banks of the Krishna River and devotees in large numbers take holy dip here after visiting the temple.
  • Srisailam is not serviced by its own railway station, the nearest railway station is at Kurnool which is about 97km from here.
