Palakkad, bestowed with the title of Palghat is a big and famous city of Kerala state. It is the administrative headquarters of the Palakkad District and is ranked as seventh most populated city in Kerala. In ancient times, the town was known as Palakkattuchery. "Palakkad" can be traced to the word Palai nilam meaning "dry lands".
