Patna originally known as Pataliputra is the capital and the largest city of Bihar. The name Patna is derived from the word ‘Patan’, the name of a Hindu goddess Patan Devi. It was the capital of the ancient Maurya and Gupta dynasty.
It is the birthplace of the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Govind Singh hence is one of the important religious places for the Sikhs. Some of the important tourist places to visit are Maner Sharif, Agam Kuan, Golgarh, Patna Museum, Har Mandir Saheb, Golghar, Kumhrar, Gandhi Maidan, Patna Zoo, Padri Ki Haveli, Pathar ki Masjid, Buddha Smriti Udyaan and many more. Litti Chokha is the local delicacy and one must not forget to try the Peda, Kalakand and Maner Ki Laddoo, which is one of the popular sweets of Bihar. The best time to visit this place is from October to March.
