The temple derives its name from two Tamil wordsManal meaning 'sand' and Kulam meaning 'pond near the sea'. The temple was known by the name Manal Kulathu Vinayagarearlier. A number of festivals and celebrations are conducted at the temple all throughout the year, yetBrahmothsavam, a 24 day long festival, is the most important one.

  • There are no entry charges or fee levied upon visitors.
  • The temple is open to public from 5:45am to 12:30pm in the afternoon and from 4pm to 9:30pm in the evening.
  • Forty different forms of Lord Ganesha are portrayed on the walls of the temple along with a golden spire.
  • Nearly 5,000 devotees visit the temple on a regular basis.
