Cellular Jail of Port Blair was an iconic colonial prison in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It was here where many of Indian political prisoners were exiled to and executed by the British. What was used to torture prisoners in the past, is a national memorial monument today. The cells in the Jail are extremely small and suffocating. Some of the most remarkable prisoner here were Batukeshwar Dutt and Veer Savarkar.

Also known by the name “Kala Pani” in Hindi language, Cellular Jail is duly visited by history buffs and explorers not only from India, but the whole world. A Light and Sound Show in the evening is a must see for all.
