Ranchi Rhinos - Champions !!!! The Rhinos won the inaugural HIL. The city Ranchi is bestowed with the honour of being the “City of Waterfalls” as it encompasses many small and big waterfalls in its beautiful area. It is the also the capital of the state of Jharkhand. The name of the city is derived from the Oraon village, Archi at the region. Archi is derived from the word ‘Oraon’ which denotes bamboo or stave. According to a Legend, after a dispute with a spirit, a farmer beat the spirit with his bamboo stave. The soul shouted “archi, archi, archi” and disappeared and as a result Archi became Rachi and was later renamed to Ranchi.
Ranchi is acknowledged for its huge mineral contents, which constitutes 18% of the entire mineral content of India. Hence it is called as ‘Manchester of the East’.
