Rishikesh, popularly known as the “Yoga Capital of the World” is a town nestled in the Himalayan range of Uttarakhand. It is considered as one of the holiest places of the Hindus. Neelkanth Mahadev Temple, Lakshman Jhula, Rishikund, Ram Jhula, Vashishta Gufa, Gita Bhawan, Triveni Ghat, and Swarga Ashram are some popular places to visit.
Apart from being a pilgrimage centre, it is also a perfect destination for adventure buffs. One can opt for trekking and camping in the regions like Garhwal Himalayan Range, Kalindi Khal Trek, Kankul Khal Trek and Buwani Neergud. River rafting in the Ganges River is another water sport which tourists enjoy. There are several shops and restaurants in the town for the tourists’ entertainment. The best time to visit is in the months between March and May and for river rafting, it is from late September to mid-November.
