A very beautiful and picturesque destination, Sagar, located in Madhya Pradesh is an ancient town in the administrative centre of the Sagar District. It is situated in the Vindhya Range and is 181 Kms northeast of Bhopal. The real name of the city was 'Saugor' and the name is a combination of two words: 'SAU' meaning 100 and 'GARH' meaning forts. Later on it was changed from 'Saugor' to 'Sagar'. The city is moving fast towards being an accomplished industrial region with various new corporate companies setting up their plants within the city. Sagar also gained immensely by being the capital of the Maratha ruler Govind Pant Bundele who settled here in the year 1735.
