Shirdi, a well-known religious destination in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra is located 240 km from Mumbai and 190 km from Pune. It is famous for being the birthplace of Sai Baba who spent 50 years in Shirdi and preached. People from various religions visit Sai Baba Temple to seek his blessings.
'The Gurusthan', a place where Sai Baba came as a Balyogi is yet another attraction here to visit. Aarti in the temple takes place four times a day. Kakad Aarti takes place from 4:30am-5:30am, and Madhyahan Aarti at 12 noon. Kakad Aarti again takes place in evening from 6pm-7pm with Sheja Aarti marking the end of the day. You can book Aarti darshan tickets in advance online from Shri Sai Baba Sansthan Trust. The street leading to Sai Baba Temple is famous for buying Pedas and Ladoos. Shirdi has a good connectivity with all the major cities in India. Aurangabad is the nearest airport to Shirdi.

How to Reach Shirdi

Shirdi is one of the major pilgrimage centers in India that is nestled in the Indian state of Maharashtra and thus it is well knitted by roadways and railways that makes easy for both the tourists and devotees to commute and pay their divine visit at the Shirdi Sai Baba Temple. Nonetheless the town also encircles some of the eminent tourist destinations of Maharashtra. The distance from Mumbai to Shirdi is approximately 240kms whereas from Pune to Shirdi is 190kms. One travelling to Shirdi by road from Aurangabad has to cover an approximate distance of 110kms whereas from Mahabaleshwar to Shirdi the distance is 305kms. The distance from Kolhapur to Shirdi is approximately 410kms whereas from Nashik it is just 90kms.


Opened in the year 2009, the town now host its own railway station, the Sainagar Shirdi that connects the town to Chennai, Mumbai, Visakhapatnam via Secunderabad, Mysore and other cities and railway stations like Ahmednagar railway station which is 83 km from the heart of Shirdi, Kopargaon station which is 15 km from Shirdi, Nashik city, which is 119 km from Shirdi and Daund railway station is 200 km from Shirdi. Thus Shirdi by train is well connected to major cities of Maharashtra and South India.


One planning to reach Shirdi by air has got two options; The Mumbai International Airport and Pune Airport are the closest airport to Shirdi that connects the town to other major cities and international hubs. There are scheduled flights from New Delhi to Mumbai and all other major cities in India whereas the there are scheduled flights from Kolkata to Pune and also runs daily flights from other major cities in India. The town is yet to come up with its own airport, which is still under construction.

Can we visit Shani Signapur, Triambakeshwar temple and Shirdi in same day?
Yes. We went to Triambakeshwar temple first, then to Nashik and then went to Shani Singnapur then evening to Shirdi. This is the best possible route to follow.
