Located in Uttar Pradesh, Sitapur is the district headquarters of Sitapur District and is located in Lucknow Division. It is one of the most historically relevant districts of the state. The district is believed to have been founded after Goddess Sita, wife of Lord Rama.
Sitapur Travel guide is incomplete without a mention of its historical heritage. The district is among one of the five religious places where the Hindus travel in their Panch Dham Yatra visit. Here, Purans were written by Rishi Ved Vyas, the writer of Indian epic, Mahabharata. Then it was known as Naimisharanya. Another place Misrikh, near Naimisharanya celebrates its holy importance due to the conviction that Maharshi Dadhichi contributed his bones to Devtas for making Vajras.
