Located in the state of Bihar, Siwan is an exquisite tourist destination and is an ancient town that is of great historical and religious importance. It is the administrative and district headquarters of the district.
“Siwan”, in Bhojpuri denotes “Border”. It got its name due to its geographical location at the southern border of Nepal. Siwan was earlier the part of the Saran district and became a separate district in the year 1976. Presently, it is still under the Saran administrative division.
Siwan is also famous as the birth district of the first President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad.
