Overview
India is the home and birth place of many faiths. Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism were born in the great land. Different religions and traditions live here in harmony. Almost 80% of India is Hindu.
North India is very important from the perspective of Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath, which are the four shrines that are called the Char Dham. The Char Dham yatra is a journey every Hindus must undertake in their lifetime. North India also has important Buddhist sites such as Kushinagar, Sarnath, Sanchi and Bodhgaya. The Gurudwara at Harmandir Sahib, AKA the Golden Temple, is in the holy city of Amritsar. It is the centre of the Sikh religion. The list of religious places in Indiais very long and a lifetime would not be enough to fully explore and understand the power of these incredible places.
