Kalakadu Wildlife Sanctuary, a prime attraction of Tuticorin is home to a diverse species of exotic flora and fauna. Spread over almost 223 sq km, the wildlife sanctuary is a unique habitat that attracts animal lovers and nature enthusiasts along with botanists and ornithologists from round the world.
Kalakadu Wildlife Sanctuary is also included in 'Project Tiger'. Species like tigers, lion tailed macaque, Nilgiri langur, bonnet macaque, nilgiri tahr, sambar, sloth bear, along with gaur, elephant, flying squirrel, panther, wild dog and pangolin roam about in their natural habitat within the forest reserve.
- Adventure junkies can undergo trekking in the sanctuary with prior permission from the forest department.
- Though it can be visited at any time of the year, yet September to March is the ideal time to undergo a wildlife safari.
