Nestled in the foothills of the eastern ghats, Yelagiri is a famous hill station in the Vellore district of Tamil Nadu. At an altitude of 1,410 metres above MSL and spread across 30 square km, Yelagiri village (also spelled Elagiri) is surrounded by orchards and green valleys. Yelagiri travel guide is the best thing to refer to before planning a journey as it provides information about how to reach Yelagiri, Yelagiri attractions, festivals in Yelagiri and excursions from Yelagiri. Yelagiri is also a perfect place for those who love traveling and exploring nature.
The history of Yelagiri dates back to the British colonial time and it was once the personal possession of the Elagiri Zamindar Family. The government of India took charge of it during 1950s. You can still find the evidence of the Elagiri Zamindars in Reddiyur. Besides the sightseeing, one can even buy some of the local things as well. Yelagiri hill station is not as developed as Ooty or Kodaikanal. But, the administration here has taken up steps to develope the Yelagiri Hills into a tourist destination by promoting adventure sports such as paragliding and rock climbing.
