Karsha Gustor is one of the popular Buddhist festivals celebrated at the Karsha Monastery, Ladakh. Nestled in the Zanskar valley, the Karsha monastery is one of the largest monasteries of the region. The festival commemorates the victory of good over evil and also is a culturally important event that brings the people together. Also, known as Zanskar, Karsha Gustor is a vibrant festival that involves dancing, merry making and seeking the blessings of Holy Deity. The monastery is decorated and people gather together to seek blessings of Lamas. The highlight of this 2-day festival is the black hat dance that is done in order to drive off the evil powers. Another aspect that makes the festival memorable is the picturesque beauty of Ladakh that is at its peak. Tourists also flock to the place, making it all the more wonderful.
Each year, monks from various monasteries come to Ladakh to be a part of the festival.
