The festival is celebrated since the era of Portugese colonials and has a great relevance in the history of the state too. Parades, cultural programs and grand celebrations are a part of this festival that makes it all the more exciting. It also commemorates the ripening of the winter crops and holds a special importance in the hearts of the farmers. People can be seen enjoying, playing with colors and dancing to the beats of folk music during the festival. It shows a different side of Goa, which catches the eyes of many visitors as well. This year, Shigmo will be celebrated from 14th March to 27th March with the same glee and shall be visited to experience Goa’s version of Holi.
