Great Trails River View Resort Thanjavur By GRT Hotel

The resort is good in terms of its infrastructure. It designed for events. The rooms are reasonably big, with a dressing/powder room & bathroom with separate tub & shower cubicle. They've also have in-house laundry.Unfortunately it's not an ideal accommodation for those intending to explore Thanjavur. It's in the middle of nowhere, far from town. The rains has raised the water in the river to dangerously high levels. To top that, the unbearably high humidity kept us locked in the room. The unique selling point of the river & it's view is hardly of any value. The river is not visible from the rooms on the ground floor. Wifi access could have been provided at check in, but they chose not to, until we called 3 times from the room. We've had to ring up front desk around 3 times eveytime to get anything. We got the feeling throughout our stay, the staff didn't have any incentive to provide regular service, they don't like having domestic guests or they were too busy (which might not be the case, as the occupancy was low). The restaurant is ridiculously expensive for a 3 star property. Small nugget-sized chicken (chinese) costs Rs. 100 a piece (incl of tax). The quality & taste of the food is average. Given the remoteness of the location, no restaurant in town would deliver their food. The breakfast spread is good. The soft music in the background at the restaurant is a nice touch. The scheduled breakfast time is 7am, but they start 30min late. Not ideal for guests who are running on a schedule.There was an elderly couple & another family with kids staying at the place. Due to the poor occupancy, the place felt desolate. That added to remoteness, the place felt dreary. The security guard was a bit rude on arrival. We didn't know why. Nobody helped us with the luggage while checking into the room. At check out they offered a small bag of raw veggies & a little rice from their garden, which though was a good gesture, unfortunately did nothing to compensate for the depressingly poor service & unreasonably high prices. This is one of those places which screams high potential, but sadly falls short by such a significant margin, you feel sorry for the founders/developers.

Resort on the river bank, river had good flow of water. It was so good to watch. Resort staff were so polite and checkin was so quick. Well maintained resort. Rooms are so spacious can accommodate family of four. So comfortable bed, enough to accommodate 2adult and a kid. Site says it can accommodate 3adult but it will be congested. We booked for a day and extended the stay for on more day as the atmosphere was so peaceful. Only concern is they can't able to implement pool rules strictly. Few guests entered pool with the influence of alcohol security was not concerned about it. Bcoz of it we thought it's better to get out of pool. Have basic board games. Enough space to go for cycling inside the resort. Pool was good and big. Most of the vegetables grown on the backside of the resort which is organic and taste so good.

Great place for family, friends also for corporate gatherings 5. Food is very good at Dhanyam restaurant Cons 1. Minor upgrades required as the property is bit old especially on furniture in the rooms 2. MOSQUITOES everywhere which is a major concern 3. Price for snack is bit high 4. You cannot enjoy the evening moonlight from your balconies as well as at restaurants due to mosquitoes/small insects

Don't Miss Roti With Special Sambal. Good Decent Menu liked by all age Groups. Value For Money Is Guaranteed A Lovable Place Liked For Sure. Don't Miss This Place.
