We a group of three went to Gokarna for a pilgrimage In the strict sense of the word Hariptiya Residency is not a homestay It is a place run by a wife and husband team in the first floor of their house So there is no formal front office and other such paraphernalia It is a good and safe place for a night s rest Value for money The surroundings are peaceful The first floor has 5 rooms which open in to a common hall Room and bathroom attached are clean Bed linen is clean No towels are provided Soap is provided Hot water is provided by a bucket Morning coffee tea is on the house For the rest I E Breakfast lunch and dinner one can go to a nearby restaurant The food in the restaurant is averageThe lady manages the show A very pleasant courteous and helpful person She helped us with arrangement of a taxi to travel from Gokarna to Sringeri Very good and reasonably priced taxi service She can also arrange for a Pandit Archaka who would go with you to the temple and perform rituals according to your requirement There is a peculiar arrangement in the Mahabaleswar temple one has to buy a ticket for any Seva like Abhishekam only through an Archaka Pandit So it may be advisable if one gets the Archaka arranged at the homestayGokarna is a small basti known only for Mahabaleswar temple So this accomdation is good for pilgrimage visit If one is interested in beach visits one may go for a beach resortFinally I can say this accommodation is good value for the money one pays Comfortable for families I would safely recommend it for any family visiting Gokarna for pilgrimage

I stayed at this home stay with my family (wife and kid) for two days and let me share the pros and cons: pros: safe, secure homestay. you are staying in a G+2 villa with the owners staying at the ground floor. They are always there to help you. rooms are of adequate size. and neatness of the room and bathroom is good. hot water is available throughout the day. three beds are there and you can join them so a family of 3 can easily sleep on it. the hotel is located at a good place with the shiva and ganesha temples nearby. also, there are a lot of Brahman staying in the area. so you would like to take a stroll in the area and admire the architecture of the houses. they will remind you of the stories that you have read in tinkle and chandamama. also, other places like om beach and gokarna beach are also nearby. even the bus stand is also nearby. you will enjoy the stay at this homestead. cons: since we had booked a non ac it was a bit hot and humid. we should have had gone for the ac accomodation at this homestay. so exactly that is not a con. also they had provided one extra fan. there are no hangers available. so you may have to dry your clothes using some work around. now this may also not be a con since we didn't ask the owners. a bit pricey. but if you are with your family then the price is understandable. overall if you want to enjoy a good homestay with your family at a safe place then go for this one.

We spent 5 days in Gokarna and we stayed in this lovely homestay The room are spacious each room has its own balcony where you can sunbathe and enjoy Excellent simple breakfast that is not included in the room price but the costs are really minimal The couple who run it are very friendly and sympathetic

It is just one room with an attached bath in a house..for that the price is too costly..even for drinking water we have to go down to the owner's house which is not very helpful
