Hotels near Kolaba Fort, Alibag

In the Konkan region of Maharashtra lies the coastal town of Alibag which is about 96km south of Mumbai. The town's economy is based on the industries present in the area sprawling chemical, steel and petrochemical sectors. It is an important tourism hub and houses beautiful beaches, forts, temples and islands. Home to several renowned personalities and harbouring few sea-facing bungalows, Alibag is a hotpot of tourist attractions. It is the only place in the Konkan to have a Portugese and a Maratha seafort on opposite banks.

Kolaba Fort, a protected monument, is an extremely popular tourist destination. The average height of the fortress walls is 25feet and has two entrances, one sea-facing and the other greets Alibag. Even though it is a seaside fort, it lodges fresh water wells. During high tides, boats must be used to reach the fort while in low tides, wading through waist-deep water proves adventurous. The Siddhivinayak Temple inside the fortress was built in the year 1759 by Raghoji Angre. To explore the historical richness and beauty of the place alongside offering prayers at the famous temple, one should opt from the numerous hotels near Kolaba Fort, Alibag.
