Why wouldn't anyone want to stay here especially when you get 350 to 400 sqft rooms that are both traditional and contemporary in equal measure and that open into an expansive garden outside ? Great rooms, great views and convenient location. Homestays like Mahatta are the best way to enjoy the essence of Kashmir- think beautiful Chinar trees, fruit orchards, magical flowers etc- in a place that otherwise feel only touristy.Restaurant serves good food, room service is limited but good enough. All rooms were equipped with modern heaters and had electric blankets as well. Toiletries and water bottles were provided as well. 24×7 hot water in the bathrooms.Caretakers are good but they need a little push in the right direction.Beautiful and well maintained garden with super pretty flowers, can only imagine how much more beautiful these would look in full bloom. We chose the luxury room here that had a heritage king size bed and seating area,almost like a living room, with big sofas and diwans near the window.Only disadvantage could be the fact that all the rooms are very close to each other and if there is a noisy group then it will be difficult to enjoy and experience the peace that this place offers. PROS: - Beautiful property with a lovely garden - Located within walkable distance of Residency road and famous cafes/eateries - Rooms are big and spacious CONS: - Staffs aren't proactive, esp. in checking everything is working fine and clean, and getting the room ready before check-in. - Food options are limited, even with a purely Vegetarian menu they had very few items in buffet breakfast.

My stay at Mahatta Homestay was wonderful. Ambience was V good with fruit trees, vegetable plants in the lawn . Staff was very polite. And above all finding pure veg hotel at Srinagar is icing on the cake
