Mandaara Comforts- Jog Falls

Hi I stayed here for one night a couple of days back with my family in a Non-Ac room. Hotel is at a good location. I had asked for a early checkin, so they helped me out, thanks for that. They also obliged to normal checkout time as there was a surya grahana (solar eclipse) next day without extra charges. Rooms were well maintained, spacious room with wardrobe, bathroom was clean. I asked for extra towels, but didn't get it. Bed was comfortable. We experienced frequent powercuts during night and day (they provided us with heater coil for hot water purpose) but somewhat felt it was dangerous and not safe for families with kids. But they have power backup also. Remote control of the set top box was really not working, they should look into this. Its a decent place for individuals, friends or families to spend a day or two. It has a ample parking space in basement as well as outside on the road also. Transport is also available like autorickshaws, good number of private and govt buses ply in this route connecting shimoga, jogfalls, honnavara, udupi, mangalore etc. There is a restaurant at the entrance of the hotel. HOTEL BRIGADE. It's a kerala style non-veg restaurant. I had breakfast here, it was really pathetic and not up to the mark. They serve only parotas, biryani and other kerala style food. But food is not tasty. Please change this restaurant to some udupi or mangalore style restaurant. My advice to travelers is do not try this restaurant, better go to KRISHNA BHAVAN which is at a walkable distance of 100 meters from the hotel in case you like to have regular udupi style breakfast or lunch. It's a simple veg restaurant. We had lunch here. It was really tasty and good. We had some tasty breakfast also here like mangalore buns and idli-vada. Its the best restaurant in that vicinity. There are lot of grocery shops if you want to buy spices, papads, good vegs etc. Medical shops are around in case you need any meds. My advice to Mandara staff is please stick SUN CONTROL films on windows of the rooms on East side of the hotel, because it's really very very hot after 10 a.m. and people who are in Non Ac rooms will face difficulty. The rooms were good atleast by looks. But it was filled with dust . It seemed the room 006 which I have recieved was not cleaned properly for a long time. There were dust accusations on the curtains, ceiling fan , ward robe top, bulb holders and back side of tv. The dust accumulations on the ceiling fan formed a chain like structure and was hanging down. I had checked in the evening and was tired of travel , hence couldn't check the room properly while taking it and my kid was sneezing the next whole day. Had a chat with the reception and it seems they have some shortage of staff. Apart from that the stay was pretty nice. Had dinner and breakfast from the in house restaurant. Rates were decent. Coffee , porotta and Pepper Chicken are recommended. Biriyani was below average. Breakfast was ok.

No automatic power backup. Electricity kept getting interrupted in the city the entire night and every time there was a gap of 5 mins before the generator would be switched on. Fan was noisy and intermittent switching on and off of the fan kept disturbing our sleep. Also, AC wasn't available and hence we couldn't switch off the fans as well. Breakfast was charged. Including water bottles. Couldn't sleep well the entire night despite being tired like anything.

Situated in the middle of kargal town. 6 km from jog falls. Neat rooms. Clean toilets. Room would be congested for 2 people. Toilet have no exhaust vent. Toiletries provided was of good quality. Well behaved and attentive staff. Ample parking space. Elevator was not working. A restaurant with good menu is available in the ground floor. Recommended for family and singles alike.
