Pangong lake, the trickiest part of our Leh-Pangong-Nubra trip due to its altitude and harsh environment, turned out to be a comfortable one thanks to Polaris cottages. There are six lake facing cottages of different bed configuration. The view of the lake from the cottages is breathtaking. They are well maintained, clean and with courteous and helpful staff. The cottages are always fully booked according to the staff and hence one has to plan in advance. The food was simple, spread was okish but was hot out of the kitchen and tastes really good. The limitation of managing things in that environment were already known and hence were not a major concern for us. The best part about these cottages is they are wooden and hence properly insulate from the harsh cold outside. Travelers must note that: 1. The power supply is through a generator and hence available only between 7:00 - 11:00 pm. 2. Hot water is available from 7:00 AM in the morning, degree of hotness, being solar, depends upon the weather conditions. 3. Room heater is available but charged extra. 4. Bonfire can be arranged at additional charges. Note: Pangong being at a considerable height, venturing into extreme activities can quickly tire you out. Breathing difficulties and sleep deprivation are common symptoms. Carrying an oxygen cylinder of adequate capacity is recommended. Overall it was a comfortable and memorable stay for us. The location is giid tge cottages are fine...water is kept in a tub..no flush works..no water in the sink...the tenoerature was minus 8 in the night.the heating system dies not work...the excuse given was no kerosene...we cold have carried kerosene ourselves if the iwner had the burden of buying it....nice cottages..no intent to maintain them well bcos anyway they are selling.

staff, location , food is good but when you ask for some amenities like bhukhari ( heater with kerosine) that is charged for Rs 1500 for 2 hours and dinner for Rs 600 per person so if you are going to visit Pangyong do book with breakfast and dinner as there are no resturant in the area

amazing experience, food is good. they have seperate charges for heater, but temperament inside cottage are good enough for the travellers.
