The Songbird

I am a veteran of the Indian Army, still smitten by the outdoors and the treasures they hold. The mountains especially enthral me! Wildlife, photography, books and music are my other loves. Thus I sought to build a home for myself in the Blue Mountains... The Nilgiris. I wanted a plush home in a space that spoils me and allows me to embrace my interests unabashedly. Songbird is a product of that desire. It is set a convenient half hour drive from the bustle and jostle of  Ooty and Coonoor... amidst verdant mountains and valleys, with a spectacular view of the Kattery Waterfall... just 200m away! You will hear the gushing waters of the third largest waterfall in the Nilgiris as it tumbles down 180 ft. You will wake up to twitter and talk of birds as the sun rises yonder in the east over the plains of Mettupalayam. Grab a hot cup of chai or coffee, sit back on the balcony and say.... hello world!! As your host, I hope this space smothers you with joy, warmth and liveliness that renews your zest for life. I have ensured that you have plushly appointed rooms, bathrooms and very comfortable beds. I promise you homely and delicious food to sate your stomachs and taste buds. Just let the staff know in advance to arrange for procuring and cooking what you want. There is a thoughtfully stacked bookcase and some coffee table books for the book lovers. I promise something there for everyone. I urge you to take some time off from screens and turn some pages. Do bring your cameras if that's your thing. It sure is mine! Early mornings are great for some bird photography right from your balcony. As the day warms, if lucky, you'll see a magnificent Black Eagle soaring close by ....sometimes at eye-level! A pair of nesting Crag Martins happen to be our permanent guests! And yes the views around are fantastic too :-)
